Chapter One

Breed history

The Australian Mist is one of the few cat breeds developed entirely in Australia, created during the 1970s and 1980s by the breeder Truda Straede, who set out to produce a gentle, spotted housecat well suited to indoor life.

Chapter Two

The Australian Mist is a gentle cat with a coat that looks as if it was dusted with soft fog. Faint spots and swirls seem to float just under the surface, giving the cat a dreamy, misty look.

This is a cat that loves company. The Australian Mist enjoys cuddles on the couch, follows its family around the house, and is happy to be picked up and carried like a small, purring pillow.

Because it is so easygoing, the Australian Mist is a wonderful friend for children and for homes that are busy and full of noise. It stays calm and patient when other cats might get nervous.

These cats are happy to stay indoors. They were created to be content living inside, playing with toys and watching the world go by from a sunny windowsill.

With its kind eyes and quiet, friendly nature, the Australian Mist is a little like a soft cloud that decided to become a cat and join your family.

Have you ever seen a cat that looks like it is wearing a cloudy sweater? The Australian Mist has a very special coat. It looks like it was painted with soft watercolors.

Nature used a secret recipe to make these lovely shades. The cats come in warm colors like peach, gold, and chocolate. But the real magic is the hazy blur over their fur.

Every single hair on their body has tiny bands of light and dark colors. This neat trick acts like a tiny frosted window. It helps hide the dark shapes hiding underneath.

Beneath that frosty blur, the cat wears secret patterns. Some have gentle spots, while others have swirling marble lines. Because of the banded hairs, these patterns look soft and beautifully faded.

It takes a very long time for a tiny kitten to get its perfect misty cloak. Their true colors slowly appear over two whole years. When they are finally grown, they look like a beautiful, walking sunset.
